Sensing Hands/Push Hands Workout
There will be no Form done at the beginning to get in the flow, no warm ups done to open up the muscles (like The Constant Bear), and no substantial talking introductions, beyond a quip or two, to ease the way into a new technique or movement. We’ll start immediately with the actual Sensing Hands exchange, but I’ll show it to you in a way that will take care of getting into the flow (Form), of opening the muscles (warm ups), and of having a clear idea of what you are learning and doing (talking introductions). So all of the 30 minutes will be available workout time, while still serving the important purposes of flow, good muscular and body care, and clarity of understanding. I’ve learned more about how to do all this from the trial run, so to speak, with Olympia students in Fall Quarter—and I’m eager to apply it this Winter (especially with the Olympia students who I didn’t sense would be the subjects of such a trial when we began). For you, it may very well mean the best, the most pleasant, and the easiest work out you’ll have all day—or any day! And this sheerly magical physical workout will be even more amazing emotionally and mentally, for you’ll notice yourself becoming much more mellow, more socially comfortable and engaging with others. It’ll be significantly harder for others to psychologically push your buttons, an annoying vulnerability all of us would like to leave behind. Stress and pressure will find you an unlikely target, while at the same time you’ll feel more compassion towards the weaknesses and difficulties of others. How much more could I say about the benefits of Sensing Hands in one’s life—besides the obvious one of more confidence in physically edgy or threatening situations? How much reading time do you have? Save the time and drop by to find out yourself!
